KYC Documents Checklist for Crypto Exchanges in 2026

May 14, 2026 · 8 min · Trusted Exchanges Team

The universal document set every exchange asks for — and the small formatting details that decide first-attempt approval.

Why the same documents get rejected

Most first-attempt rejections aren't about missing documents — they're about legibility, expiry, and mismatched addresses. Reviewers are trained to reject the moment any single field looks off.

Your core set

A valid government photo ID, a utility bill or bank statement dated within 90 days, and a live selfie captured through the platform's own capture flow. Uploads should be original files from the source, never screenshots of screenshots.

Source-of-funds documentation

If you plan to move meaningful volume, prepare a payslip, tax return, or contract that clearly shows income origin. Anonymised bank statements are rarely accepted.
